St John's has for many years provided extensive help to children with additional needs. We pride ourselves on our work with all children and our aptitude for obtaining specific help for those children whose needs require extra support.

In order to be able to support children with special needs, we apply for funding from the County Council for the children who have exceptional needs, to fund a one-to-one support worker for these children. The manager not only applies for this funding, but is the representative for playgroups in this area on the Exceptional Needs Funding Panel which meet once a term to determine who should receive the funding.

The playgroup works to the requirements of the Education Act 2011; Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice 2015 and Equality Act 2010. The role of Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator is shared by the Leader, Celia Mills and AnnaMaria Turner, who work closely together with the parents, the child's keyworker and relevant multi agency teams to ensure that the most appropriate help is provided.
